School Wellness
School Wellness at Woodson ISD

At Woodson ISD, we believe that a healthy school environment supports student learning and lifelong success. Our wellness program is designed to promote good nutrition, encourage physical activity, and foster habits that reduce childhood obesity and support overall well-being.
Through our School Health Advisory Council (SHAC), we bring together parents, students, teachers, health professionals, administrators, and community members to guide and review our wellness goals. This collaboration ensures that our practices reflect the needs of our students and meet state and federal standards.
Key areas of focus include:
-
Nutrition Education & Promotion: Students are encouraged to make healthy choices through classroom lessons, school meals, and nutrition information shared with families.
-
Healthy Meals & Standards: All meals and snacks provided or sold at school follow strict nutritional guidelines, aligning with the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs.
-
Physical Activity: We provide safe, age-appropriate opportunities for students to be active every day and encourage families to support physical activity at home as well.
-
Supportive School Environment: Students enjoy meals in a clean, safe, and comfortable setting, with adequate time to eat. Wellness messages are reinforced across campus activities.
We also share updates on our wellness plan and progress with the community each year, ensuring transparency and accountability. By taking a comprehensive approach, Woodson ISD is committed to helping every student build healthy habits that last a lifetime.
